The Itami International Craft Exhibition "Jewellery" alternates themes annually between jewellery on the odd years and Shuki & shuhaidai (sake vessels and trays) on the even.
this year's exhibition had 445 applicants of which 86 were from 14 foreigh countries. We feel this demonstrates that this open exhibition is receiving greater international recognition.
As a result of an enthusiastic and through process, the 7 judges selected 90 artists (30 of which come from 10 foreign countries) and awarded 8 prizes. The selected works express a wealth of creativity and technical skills. We feel the diverse materials and techniques expand the realm of contemporary jewellery.
Itami City created the Itami College of Jewellery, a yearlong jewellery study program in an effort to develop jewellery culture and cultivation of artists. We are pleased that this jewellery exhibition has been able to lead to greater global exchange and information transmission.
We would like to earnestly thank the judges. the sponsors, our supporters and the exhibition staff. Also we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the artists who entered so many wonderful works. We hope that the international recognition of our exhibition will continue to grow.
We thank you for your continued support and we hope that many people will come and enjoy this exhibition.
